Hi everyone,

I have a question... I had my 18-month-old dog spayed this morning. She hasn’t moved all afternoon and has just been resting...

However, this evening, I noticed some blood seeping through the dressing. It’s not a full-on haemorrhage, but it’s still leaving spots on the floor. Is this normal?

Hi there, it’s possible to see some slight bleeding after they've been neutered. Clean the wound with some saline or just plain water if you don't have any, and check that the stitches are still holding. If you notice any heavy bleeding, get back in touch with your vet to make sure the wound is closed properly.

A dressing should stay clean after an operation, not have that kind of stain. You might get a bit of weeping, but not to the point of it staining the floor... Give your vet a call; she might not have been stitched up properly...
