I couldn’t tell you what’s causing it, but if you’re concerned, give your vet a quick ring to explain the situation, and they’ll be able to tell you if you need to come in urgently or if it can wait. I can’t think of what virus would cause that (especially a fatal one???), but then again, I’m not a vet...^^
Vitiligo can sometimes start like that, but it’s not life-threatening, and if I’m not mistaken, it’s an autoimmune disease.
