Why does my female dog **** her leg like a boy?

Right, so it’s not because she’s in season then. Anyway, cocking a leg is a sign of scent marking. While it’s certainly more common in males, some female dogs do mark too. It’s a way of communicating—a kind of scent signature left for other dogs. I do find it a bit strange that she’s only just started doing it now, though.

My dog is 6, but she’s been spayed.
