I've noticed that my dog, who is usually very playful, hasn't wanted to play for a few days now. Since I have a one-month-old baby, I’ll admit I initially thought it was just down to that, as I’m obviously very busy with the little one – even though I do try to spend time with my dogs while the baby is napping... anyway.
Today, I’ve noticed that she’s actually struggling to open her mouth. For instance, when she yawns, she barely opens it at all... and when we try to play, she won't grab her toys.
How on earth is this possible? Could she have locked her jaw? I honestly have no idea :'( if anyone has any suggestions or advice...

Yes, especially as she had a temperature and you couldn't really tell. The problem is it's been so hot lately that I just thought it was down to that... It just goes to show you really have to be careful. But her temperature has come down now and she's finding it easier to open her mouth. I'm just waiting for a call back from the vet for an update :)
Yeah, that’s what they’re taught, unfortunately. Between the flies that are always on them and all that, I don’t think she could tell the difference :( and I can’t manage to upload any photos, the files are too big :(
Hi there! So, Maya went to the vet on Monday and it turns out it was just either a sting from some sort of bug like a wasp or a bee, or she’d got something stuck in her gum which had caused an infection. She had a high temperature of 40°C and unfortunately we hadn’t noticed, because apart from the fact she wasn't playing (and she doesn’t always play anyway) she seemed totally normal :( Anyway, she’s been having jabs until today, so I’m guessing anti-inflammatories or antibiotics (I can’t tell you exactly because my partner was the one who took her and, well, he can't remember... typical...). The main thing is that she’s doing really well! And we’ve definitely got our old Maya back! Since yesterday she’s been able to eat a bit of her dry food again, she’s barking -_- and she’s playing and being her usual loopy self.
