Hi everyone!

We’ve just adopted a little 2-month-old puppy exactly a week ago!

Since Thursday, we’ve noticed he has some very dark black spots and some smaller ones all around them (near his willy). We're really worried and don't know what to do... Before heading to the vet, I'm turning to you... if you could help me please? 😞🥺

My dog has black spots on his belly near his willy, what are they?

Yeah, it could be a nipple, but that little black spot on top makes me a bit suspicious (could be a shadow or even a tick head), especially looking at the scabs. As for those tiny black dots, some puppies do get acne. It’s nothing to worry about and it’ll clear up on its own. Maybe give it a quick wash with some Betadine scrub just to disinfect the area.

    It's a nipple.

That looked like the tick to us

And the rest could be what's left of a tick bite.

When was he treated? You have to give the product time to work.

Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly! We’ve had a look and it doesn’t look like a tick, anyway. He’s already had a flea and tick treatment – can he still pick them up?? It’s a shame the photo quality isn’t very clear once I’ve posted… here is a close-up; there are two main black dots with lots of tiny ones all around them. @Caroline-eg, what sort of balm can we use?

    If it's a tick, we'd need a closer photo.

Hmm, isn’t that a tick in the top right? It looks like one that’s quite engorged... If so, the scabs could be from ticks that have already dropped off...

I’d say they’re just dried scabs (my dog is quite low to the ground and gets them from time to time), nothing to worry about. If he’s scratching, you can apply a bit of balm. As for the little lump on the side, that’s just a nipple.

Hi there, Those little black specks on their private parts look like a bit of dirt, so see if you can give it a clean. As for the other spot a bit further away, it looks a lot like a mole; I know a Yorkie who has one on its head. To me, it doesn't look like anything to worry about.
