Hi everyone, I’ve just happened to notice that my one-year-old dog has a lump, just over half a centimetre wide, on the roof of his mouth (right behind his front teeth). Could anyone tell me if this is normal?

    Kind regards

Thank you so much for your reply. I’m going to pop into my vet’s this week, and in the meantime, I’ll keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t get any bigger. As you say, the main thing is to have peace of mind and not take any risks ;) Hi everyone, My dog has the same lump on the roof of her mouth and I’m really worried. I’ve been to see my vet and they recommended having a biopsy done. I’d really like to know what your vet told you and what it turned out to be, please. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I’ve just happened to notice that my 1-year-old dog has a lump just over 0.5cm on the roof of his mouth (behind his front teeth). Could anyone tell me if this is normal? Hi there, did you manage to find out what that lump was? My 8-month-old pup has the same thing on her palate, right at the top behind her little front teeth. The vet cost me around £50 to put her on antibiotics and anti-inflammatories; it’s been a month now and nothing has changed. I’ve got a feeling she’s got a bit of bone or a stick stuck in there but I can’t get it out, and I’m not 100% sure anyway... so thanks just in case. Otherwise, like yours, she’s in great form and it doesn’t seem to be bothering her too much, but I’m worried it’ll get infected if there’s a foreign body in there. Thanks!

Hi, did you get any answers from your vet about that little lump on his palate?? I'm really worried as mine has exactly the same thing... the difference is he's having these fits where he breathes weirdly through his nose... I'd be so grateful if you have any answers.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I'm going to pop into the vet's sometime this week, keeping a close eye on it in the meantime to make sure it doesn't get any bigger. Like you said, the most important thing is to get some peace of mind and not take any risks ;)

Both of mine have a tiny little bump right in the centre. Not off-centre like your dog's.

But then again, it could be absolutely nothing, a dental abscess, or maybe he’s been stung by a wasp... It really is quite small.

To put your mind at rest and play it safe, the best thing would be to pop into the vet with the photo. It won't cost anything, and if they're any good, they'll tell you what’s what without charging you for a full consultation.

That’s definitely what I’d do in your shoes. Mine once confirmed a tapeworm diagnosis just from photos of some poo, so looking at your photo is much nicer and even easier for them! ;-)
