Hi everyone, I’ve just come across the name of a dog breed I’ve thought was stunning since I was a kid: the Timber Shepherd. I’d love to get some information about their temperament—are they difficult to train? I really want to get to know the breed properly before adopting one so I don’t make any mistakes, so if you have any advice, I’m all ears. Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

I found this regarding their temperament:

“They are very friendly dogs, quite submissive, very playful and tolerant of all other dogs regardless of their size, highly intelligent, and have a distinct intuitive sensitivity.

They are very devoted to their families, need plenty of cuddles and can be quite 'velcro dogs'. Although they are calm and steady, they need a lot of physical and mental exercise to thrive, and can be destructive if they get bored (and their imagination for finding ways to keep themselves busy knows no bounds....)

They are house-trained very quickly and are happy travellers in the car.

They love the water, and their heavily webbed paws make them excellent swimmers.

They are slow to mature, and training should always be done using positive reinforcement.”

Hi there! I don't think the Timber is a very well-known breed; I personally haven't come across them before, but I've just had a quick look online and I think they're stunning dogs. You could try searching on Google for more info if you don't find the answers you're looking for here. Or perhaps some other members will know the breed and can answer your questions. I do have a few questions for you, though: If you get a dog, how much time will you be able to take it out for walks? Do you live in a flat or a house? How much time will you be able to dedicate to your dog? Will he be left on his own all day? Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but I hope some of the other members can help you out. Have a lovely day 🙂
