Life expectancy of a crossbreed dog?

Hi, I was wondering what the life expectancy of my dog might be. She's 13 years old and she's a crossbreed; both her parents were crossbreeds too. She is a medium-sized dog.

I had a Yorkie who lived to be 17 and a half; it’s so true that small dogs live longer! I reckon he could have even lasted a bit longer because, although he was showing obvious signs of old age (blindness, deafness, frail health, and the start of incontinence), it was actually a road accident that took him from us 🤧 He was the family dog I grew up with from the age of 9 until I was 27, and I miss him terribly… My mum has since adopted another Yorkie who’s nearly 6 months old and already weighs almost 9 lbs! As for me, I’ve adopted a little 13 lb crossbreed, a Shepherd mix 😁 I just hope she has a long, happy, and healthy life!!

Yeah, I’ve heard that too; then again, it’s like anything else, it also depends on what kind of life the dog has?

I've always heard that "mongrels" are hardier than "pedigrees", so they live longer!

And it's also said that small dogs live longer than large breeds. Is that true?

They’re prone to fewer genetic health issues because there’s less inbreeding.

It varies depending on the mix; crossbreeds and purebreds alike live between 10 and 15 years, or even longer... I knew two crossbreeds, one made it to 17 and the other only to 10...

My girl lived until she was 17. Mind you, I had a chocolate Lab who passed away at 8 1/2 — brain tumour, absolutely heartbreaking!

    I’ve since got another crossbreed.

It depends really – my last dog lived to be 16. I think it’s also down to their food and so on... there are plenty of factors that help a dog live longer, but I’d say the average is about 15. Mind you, every dog is different.
