Husky/Samoyed crossbreed?

Hi everyone,

As the title suggests, I’m looking into the Husky/Samoyed crossbreed.

Over the last few months, I’ve been seeing loads of adverts for this mix, with puppies being sold at the same prices as KC-registered pedigree dogs. Of course, the photos are always adorable, but puppies always are when they're small, aren't they?

So, I was wondering:

- What do they look like as adults? (If you have any photos, I’d love to see them!)

- What’s their temperament like? (Even though every dog is unique, there must be some common traits.)

- Considering the risks of PRA, corneal dystrophy, and cataracts in Huskies, and hip dysplasia in Samoyeds, what’s the health outlook for these dogs?

The adverts are for puppies sold by 'pros' (well, registered as such on the site, anyway).

If any owners of this crossbreed are on this thread, please feel free to introduce your fur babies!

Mind you, if a site features dog breeders... why not? But some people will assume it’s a seal of approval... when that might not be the case at all.

Maybe it’s better to just stick to running a forum without listing breeders, as Wamiz (just like any other site, really) can’t guarantee how reputable they actually are.

A 'pro breeder'... I have my doubts, more like a professional dealer! No, honestly, I’ve also come across ads from so-called 'pro breeders' who are producing non-KC registered pups by just crossing whatever breeds they happen to have; I can't understand why they haven't had their kennel name taken away! It's true they admit they aren't pedigree, but if you want to do things properly, you don't just go around cross-breeding at random.

I wouldn't exactly call this site the gold standard ^^ (Sorry!)

    LOL

Not for that reason, no... let's just say they don't vet every single breeder before listing them. The directory is simply a service they provide (just like a business directory doesn't check the skills of every tradesman before listing them).

    Husky x Akita?

Blimey, the perfect family dog, especially for non-sporty types living in the city. Life must be pretty full-on!

I wouldn’t exactly call Wamiz a reliable source, personally ^^

    (Sorry Wamiz!)

Yeah, professional in the sense that they're registered, but professional in terms of doing a proper job? That’s where it all falls down. ^^

When I say 'pro', I mean someone who's actually good at it. Like Usain Bolt is a pro at sprinting; he's world-class in his field.

A registered breeder like that isn't a pro to me; they're just selling cuddly toys.

Professional breeder... I’ve got my doubts, but definitely a professional seller!

I love looking at old photos.

Breeds have changed so much in a century:

    Boxer, 1898

    English Bulldog, 1900

    Bull Terrier, 1890s

You could say the same for pretty much every other breed.

Nobody ever just says "meh" when you tell them you’ve got a Samoyed 🙄

In that photo with the reindeer, it looks a bit like a Laika, doesn't it?
