Chihuahua or Pomeranian?

A Spitz, definitely!
I have a one-year-old Japanese Spitz and we're picking up a little mate for him this weekend, a black and white Pomeranian.
I’m probably a bit biased, though; my Japanese Spitz was my first dog and I’ve been a huge fan of the breed ever since!
I’ve got three Pomeranians and I’d definitely recommend them – they’re such a lovely breed.

Here’s a Cavalier King Charles
But if you choose a small dog for walks of an hour to an hour and a half, it's going to be tricky as little dogs get tired very quickly.
So if you want an agile, active, small, and friendly dog, it's best to avoid breeds that are too tiny.
That’s just my take on it, especially since Spitz breeds often have problems with their trachea like mine does, which means frequent trips to the vet and not much physical activity.
I really like the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel:
They’re small, fairly active, and very sociable and gentle.
Hope this helps!
😌
Hi there! My dog is a cross between a Spitz and a Yorkie, and he’s simply brilliant!!
Spitzes are such playful dogs and really love company; they enjoy mixing with other breeds and are much more sociable.
Whereas Chihuahuas are less sociable, more aggressive towards things they aren't familiar with, and they’re very fragile;
So personally, I prefer the Spitz.
I also find them easier to train. I know people who have Chihuahuas and they don’t listen at all—they just bark at everything they see (including flies)!
👌
p'titefleur: you've had so many different breeds *o* that must be brilliant ;)
Anyway, I like both, but if you don't want to buy from a breeder, have a look at a rescue centre – you might just find your perfect match there.

Hands down, the German Spitz! Whether it's a small or toy one, it doesn't matter.
I'm getting my girl in about two weeks' time :D
Small dogs at the RSPCA generally get snapped up pretty fast, but if you don't find the right match there, there are plenty of other rescue charities too :-)
