Hi everyone,

I'm about to adopt a little Chihuahua French Bulldog cross, but I've been told that this mix often has serious health issues. I was wondering if anyone here owns one or knows a bit about these dogs and could share their experiences?

Thanks a lot 🙏

Léane.

Thanks everyone for your advice and for taking the time to get back to me. Unfortunately, I was meant to be picking her up tomorrow morning, but despite the owner confirming everything yesterday, they decided today to give her to another family instead... Despite my disappointment and sadness, I still hope she’ll be happy and healthy! Thanks again to you all!

He's absolutely adorable! A friend of mine has one who’s about 7 or 8 now and, luckily, hasn't had any major health issues throughout his life. Like @Docline said, it’s probably a bit of luck, even if they aren't quite as hardy as some others given their reputation... Keep us posted! 🙂

For a start, he doesn't have a squashed nose, so he shouldn't have any breathing problems, I reckon... anyway, he's got a lovely little face! 👍

He’s a funny one, very cute.

    It’s a bit of a lottery, really.

Frenchies aren't exactly known for their robust health; they often have skin issues, digestive problems, and trouble with their kneecaps... Chihuahuas are more prone to luxating patellas, though I’m not entirely sure about their general health....

Basically, it’ll depend on the parents and how the crossbreed turns out (whether they take more after the Frenchie or the Chihuahua, or vice versa...)
