Boubou has eaten sanitary towels...

Hi everyone!

I'm back on the forum to share today's disaster.

The title says it all: my little monster has eaten a sanitary towel, plastic wrapper and all.

As soon as I realised, I called the vet. We've got an appointment in 2 hours for an examination and an ultrasound.

Given the size of the thing compared to my girl, and what it's made of, the vet surgery doesn't recommend waiting for it to pass like other small items might, and they want to examine her before advising on what to do.

So here I am, worried sick, just waiting for the appointment time to roll around. It happened during the night, so it's too late to induce vomiting. I'm not really sure what's going to happen next.

As for how on earth she got her paws on the pad, let's just say my sister will definitely be sleeping out on the porch tonight.

I'd be grateful for any info on pets swallowing similar objects, especially if you've got any reassuring stories!

Yes Bobkat, it’s a nightmare! I’m even finding it hard to get any work done because there’s a constant parade of colleagues behind my chair—she’s just so adorable! And as for my back, I’m getting by. I’m seeing a specialist on Thursday evening; I’ve literally been dreaming about it! Minnie has definitely realised I’m not doing too well, as she’s sticking to me even more than usual. It’s amazing how much our fur babies understand!

Ohhh, she looks so sweet sprawled out on the desk!

I hope your back is feeling better, I know what that’s like and it’s really no fun at all :(

Minnie’s all better and back in the office:

She’s doing well, though her stools aren’t quite back to normal yet. Mind you, poor thing, she's had a lot to deal with, all that nasty business!

She’s finished her meds now and she’s on a bland diet until she’s fully recovered!

Oh, it's good that it’s still coming out, shame about your back though. Get some proper rest this weekend ^^ and Minnie too.

Thanks for the suggestion Doudou, I'll look into spirulina and chlorella – I've only heard of them by name, so I'll do some research! :)

👎 And there you go, a bad back following all that worrying... :-( For Minnie, a bit of spirulina and she'll be right as rain... why not give it a go? Either spirulina or chlorella. For both of you... It’s definitely reassuring to have the vet's opinion... Keep your chin up!

You only had to think of us for her to pop up! Thanks for checking in. :)

No updates because, with all the stress (+ exhaustion), I’ve managed to put my back out, so I’ve been a bit tied up with that!

Things are moving... slowly, but they’re moving! The little monster is still sleeping a lot, but the vet is confident, and when we get her going a bit, she’s full of beans. :)

She’s absolutely loving the laxatives and probiotics; I’ll feel bad having to ‘deprive’ her of them once the treatment is over..!

I really don't like the saying "no news is good news"! When I don't hear from my kids for a day, it’s just not right!
