It’s hard to tell exactly how much he’s drinking. I have to change his water four or five times a day. He slobbers so much when he drinks that the mix of water and drool isn’t exactly a refreshing beverage lol! It’s actually quite incredible—if there’s not much left in his bowl after he’s finished, it looks just like egg whites! 😅
I change the water several times a day, basically whenever I think of it.
If you like, I can lend you Oxane for a few days... I haven't got a clue how much she drinks either ^^
I find slobber, toys in there, walnuts from the garden, and splashes galore. And that’s when it's not a total swimming pool, because apparently, spinning her raised bowl is a right laugh! ????!!!!!!!!!!
And lately, she’s been dunking her big nose in to fish out bits of food while she's drinking...
With her, I have to keep the mop on standby at all times... I have to rinse her bowl with freezing cold water first to get the slime off, and then go in with the boiling water...
For your lovely big lad,
I’ll be here this evening...
Love
Oh no, poor Odin!
I hope it’s nothing serious!
I’ll keep my fingers crossed and wait for an update. 😔
Oops! I meant to write hypotheses, not hydrocarbons... 😂😂😂
Bloody autocorrect!
Thanks Petyrlechon, yeah, it’s unrelated as both times it happened when he got up from his armchair (though that's enough of an effort for him already 😂)
But it’s another possibility, like when we stand up too quickly?
I hope we’ll get some answers tomorrow.
I’m doing okay for now and staying calm; there’s no point stressing out anyway. But if I come home tomorrow with some scary news, I won't be staying calm lol
One time I left in tears because the vet had scared me so much! Luckily he was wrong, but at the time, I just wasn't ready to hear what he told me...
Docline, maybe it’s censorship? It’s not the first time I’ve seen links full of ****
I’ll go and have a look at your link.
He's shaking his head, but given the itching he’s had from his dry food (at least I hope that’s all it is), his ears were already a bit itchy. So I put it down to the itching, but it could be related to him feeling unwell, I’m not sure.
I’ve got some drops the vet prescribed for his ears.
The vet has already seen his ears and they’re no worse than before. I mean, he’s shaking and scratching, but they aren’t really dirty and there’s no smell. Either way, I’m not cleaning them for now so that the vet can see them properly tomorrow.

Maybe it’s a deficiency. Yet I’ve given him what I thought was the best—Orijen, then Carnilove, and now Wolfood. But you never know. I’d actually prefer it to be that, as it’s an easy fix.
Yes, I also keep a record in my diary of when I give him a wormer, any treatment, weigh-ins, or anything else that seems important. But in this case, there’s nothing obvious that could be the cause. I’d much rather it were just an intolerance to a worming tablet.
Anyway, thanks everyone for your replies, it’s given me some points to discuss with the vet tomorrow. I hope we find out what’s wrong and that it isn’t anything serious...
Oh goodness, poor Odin 😦 It must be so frightening, especially with such a big lad! My Gibbson had similar episodes when he was a pup; falling onto his side all of a sudden like that is horrific to see, and then five minutes later he's back up again... he was having fainting spells because of his heart (an enlarged heart plus a heart murmur, which has been treated for some time now). However, unlike Odin, Gibbs would collapse after a lot of exertion...
I'm anxiously waiting for an update tomorrow!! In the meantime, hang in there, and give Odin loads and loads of cuddles!!! 😶
