Doberman in a flat

Hi, I'd like to get a dog and I like quite a few different breeds, but I've got to admit I'm most drawn to Dobermans. Seeing as I live in a flat and work, would it be a good idea to get one? Just for info, when I lived with my parents, I was the one who looked after my brother's dog the most; I used to take her out and did all the training.

A Dobe in a flat all day on its own? It’s not just the furniture that’ll disappear, it’ll be the whole flat; even the walls will be torn down 😈😈 Mind you, there is a solution: every evening I do 3 hours of play and walks, and at least 6 miles on the bike + a pet cam to check she’s sleeping during the day.

Hi there, you can definitely keep a dog in a flat; you just need to make up for the lack of space with plenty of walks. Especially as a Dobermann is a large breed. That being said, if you’re working from morning till night, no dog should have to deal with being left alone in a flat all day. It all depends on your schedule; if you work long hours, you’ll need to find someone to look after your dog and take them out. Otherwise, if being away for a long time isn't an issue, it’s up to you to make sure they get out enough every day to burn off some energy.
