What’s your Chihuahua’s personality like?

Hi everyone! As we’ve all heard and read before, Chihuahuas definitely have big personalities. Many people describe them as being prone to aggression or being unsociable, but as for me, the two I know are absolute darlings. How does your Chihuahua behave? I’m looking forward to hearing your stories! (No judging each other, please! Every individual is different, humans and dogs alike!)

Personally, every Chihuahua I come across is... snappy, aggressive, jittery, and the list goes on. Then again, they’re 'fashion dogs' at the moment, so there are loads of them about. And when a breed becomes popular, you get plenty of owners who haven't got a clue what they're doing. I reckon if you socialise them properly and treat them like any other dog (not scooping them up the second a slightly bigger dog comes along, etc.), they’re absolutely fine. So, at the end of the day, I think they can be a bit feisty – their tiny size probably makes them more prone to stress – but otherwise, they don't have any major behavioural issues. You've also got to keep in mind how fragile Chihuahuas are, not to mention their various health problems and so on...

There’s one in my neighbourhood who’s obsessed with my dog, but she just gives him the brush-off ^^'. He doesn’t like other males, but that’s probably because he hasn’t been neutered. He’s well-behaved, though – wary of strangers but not aggressive (he just barks), and his owner takes him everywhere.

There are two others that never leave their garden; on top of being obese, they get really worked up every time a dog passes the house.

Another one is a Pinscher cross (though he’s more like a Chihuahua). He’s really chill and a bit of a nutter – he loves everyone.

I think as long as you get your Chihuahua out and about to socialise them properly, without overprotecting them by carrying them around like Paris Hilton, they’re really easy-going dogs ^^

Obviously, their behaviour at home, but also when meeting people and other dogs?
