My 3-and-a-half-month-old Chihuahua puppy weighs 5.3 lbs - is this normal?

I adopted a Chihuahua puppy about 2 weeks ago; he's 3 and a half months old and weighs 5.3 lbs (2.4kg). I've been checking breed weight charts online and it seems he's well above the average. Is it because he's going to be a large Chihuahua, or is this considered a "normal" weight for a Chihuahua puppy of this age?

Here's a photo of my little guy:

I don't think he has a typical Chihuahua face; his eyes aren't as bulgy and his snout is longer. He’s likely a Chihuahua cross rather than a pedigree. I hope you didn't pay pedigree prices for him! But he’s very cute (cuter than a Chihuahua, in my opinion) :)

I'm not really a fan of Chihuahuas, but your little guy is adorable!

You're right, he isn't a pedigree Chihuahua, but that doesn't make him any less cute 👌 I've got a Chihuahua who's nearly a year old and he isn't that heavy (at his last weigh-in, he was about 4.8 lbs).

I’m aware. My other two dogs are from the RSPCA.

That’s a bit steep :/ Especially when you consider that at a rescue or a shelter, it’s around £215 or even less for a dog that’s already microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and neutered.

Yeah, he’s probably a crossbreed. I only paid about £300 for him (he wasn't microchipped or vaccinated). Thanks for your thoughts :)

Do you have a photo of him standing from the side? I reckon his legs look quite short; he’s probably a crossbreed.

He's simply a Chihuahua cross. He'll definitely be heavier than a pedigree Chihuahua, but he'll still be a small dog.
