Hi everyone, a friend has offered me the chance to adopt a little dog, a Pomeranian x Chihuahua cross. Do any of you own one already? I'd love to see what these little darlings look like, thanks! 😊

Having a Chihuahua and a Pinscher cross myself, don't make the mistake of thinking they're just dolls.

Mine love rolling in animal poo in the woods, zooming all over the place and chewing on your shoes!!

As mentioned above, you've got to train them just like a big dog.

Could you post a photo of the little one for us?? :-)

The mum is a long-haired Chihuahua and the dad is a Pomeranian

Thanks so much for the advice 😊. I’d love to see what these little pups look like once they're fully grown 😁.

    Surprise surprise ^^

    What are the parents like?

Maja has pretty much summed up the main points 👍🏻

Beyond that, if you're still ready to take the plunge, you can get a rough idea of what they look like by Googling 'Chihuahua cross Spitz' to see some examples from other owners. Just bear in mind that a crossbreed is a bit of a genetic lottery; photos don't always mean much. If the pup takes after the dad or the mum more, it changes everything—you'll only really get a proper idea of how they'll turn out once you actually see the puppy in the flesh ;)

Hi there, Just a quick heads-up on a couple of things if you’ve never owned a dog before: Despite this crossbreed’s small size, make sure you treat them like any other dog. That means not carrying them everywhere, letting them meet other dogs—even if they’re much bigger—and not being overprotective... If a big dog comes over to say hello, just let them get on with it! By picking them up, you’re passing on your own stress, and the dog thinks, "Blimey, my owner is protecting me from this dog, it must be really dangerous!" Then you end up with a small dog that yaps or tries to nip at others... Also, keep in mind that despite their size, they’ll still need a walk every day outside the garden to take in new smells, meet other dogs, and explore different routes. A dog that never leaves the house gets bored and can end up barking compulsively, which happens a lot with these smaller breeds... So, to sum up: yes, they're a small dog, but they're still a dog. They love going for walks and don’t need to be wrapped in cotton wool like a soft toy...
