A bit strange...

I bought my dog a new toy yesterday! It’s a squeaky toy, and she hasn’t let it out of her sight since she got it! But the thing is, not only will she not leave it alone, but she’s pacing around the whole house with the toy in her mouth and crying! I thought she might be bored, so I took her out 12 times yesterday, but every single time all she wanted to do was get back home, grab her toy and start crying again...

It’s the first time she’s ever acted like this...

She’s never cried before... I’m trying to reassure her, give her a fuss, talk to her... but nothing works, she just keeps going....

How should I interpret her crying? What is she trying to tell me?

Thanks in advance!

PS: If I don’t reply, it's just because I’ve had to head off to uni!!

Squeaky toys often have this effect on some female dogs.

It reminds them of their mum... take the squeaky toy away... because it’s not meant to comfort her and it’s making her feel uneasy.

I’ve got a Staffie—well, he’s my sister’s really—but even when we’re with him and giving him all the cuddles in the world and trying to comfort him, he whines all the time because my sister isn’t there. So, maybe if your dog had a doggy friend or another pet before who isn’t around anymore, he might be missing them and feeling a bit depressed? Mind you, I don’t know, it’s just a guess, but if he hasn’t lost a pal recently then I’m not sure what else it could be.
