Dog slipping on tiled floors

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any 'tips' to stop my boy from slipping on the tiles? When he walks on the tiled floor, he slides about a bit too much for my liking, and I don't think it's very good for his joints :/ \/p>

We put down some carpet in our old flat when he was a puppy to stop him slipping, but we had to chuck it out because it was all chewed up and stained :/ . \/p>

I'd love to put down some cheap rugs, but my lad loves to nibble on them (we've already had to throw away two rugs as well as the carpet...).\/p>

From what I've read, you can either trim the fur between their paw pads, use some kind of balm, or get little socks? What do you reckon would be best?\/p>

Solenneb: Yes, I'll keep you posted once I've received it :)

And Lgrand: OK, I'll keep an eye on him to stop him from licking it, thanks for the tip, and yeah, I don't think he would've been too keen on the socks :p

The 'I love' brand doesn't test on animals, so that’s why I recommend them! ;)

Whatever you do, don't try putting socks on them – pets absolutely hate it! :) If their paw pads are getting too dry, I’d recommend using a specialised paw treatment solution (a repairing liquid) to rub on them. I’m not familiar with the 'I love pet' cream, but if it’s working, then that’s great... In any case, make sure you rub it in well until it’s fully absorbed. It’s best not to let your dog lick their paws right after you’ve put it on (try to wait at least 15 minutes), as it’s never particularly good for them. Good luck!

I use a cream by a brand called I Love Pet (it’s cruelty-free) with shea butter, I think! I put some on him once a week...

Thanks for your reply, I’ve already trimmed a bit of the hair between his pads but it’s quite tricky! What cream did you use on him?

Hi! I’m having the same issue with my St Bernard! I trim the fur between his pads and apply some cream while he’s asleep to stop his paw pads from getting too dry and losing their grip... It’s quite effective! And you’re right, you really have to be careful with this sort of thing with giant breeds... Since Bernese Mountain Dogs are one of them, you’re definitely doing the right thing by staying vigilant!
