Evening everyone,

I noticed while playing with my dog that she has a small lump (a little growth) on her paw. It doesn't seem to be bothering her... but I'm still worried nonetheless.

I'm scared it might be a tick bite? Have any of you seen anything like this on your pups before?

It’s going to be Sunday and my vet is closed... I’ll have to wait until at least Tuesday :(

Let me know what you think,

have a lovely evening!

Yeah, you can clearly see a sting there; keep an eye on it as Mel said.

There aren't many ticks around at this time of year, but it can still happen. I actually found one on one of my cats at Christmas. You can clean the area with some antiseptic in the meantime. It could also just be a thorn or a splinter. There’s no need to panic for now; it can wait until Tuesday. Keep an eye on how it develops to see if it gets infected, and watch your dog’s general behaviour. If it’s Babesiosis (a tick-borne disease), the dog will be very lethargic and their wee will be orange. If that happens, you'll need an emergency vet straight away! But honestly, by Tuesday the swelling might have gone down anyway. It looks like an inflammatory reaction from a tick bite, a thorn, or something similar. Just keep a close eye on it. Personally, I wouldn’t worry too much as long as your dog is their usual self and doesn’t seem to be in any pain.
