Hi everyone,

My dog has always had this yellow discharge coming from his penis, but I'm not sure what it is? It's really annoying because sometimes it drips onto the floor tiles and other times it gets stuck in his fur and is a nightmare to clean off. He's 7 months old.

It’s just a minor infection, my dog has the same thing and my previous one did too, as well as the Great Danes my parents used to have. It’s very common. The vet told me to clean his willy. The vet used surgical spirit 🤪 but I prefer using hydrogen peroxide. To put your mind at ease and maybe get some more advice, you could give your vet a ring or even pop in (without your dog) to see what they think by showing them the photo.

It could be balanoposthitis, which is an infection of the prepuce and the sheath. Ideally, you should take him to see a vet. It’s possible the sheath isn’t open enough to allow the penis to ‘come out’—if you’ll pardon the expression.
