Torn paw pad (or nearly!) - Urgent

Evening everyone,

I went to the vet yesterday because my Toumaï was licking his paw and wouldn't put any weight on it, etc.

Anyway, it turns out he had a grazed pad, so he's on anti-inflammatories and antibiotics, with an ointment and some long-term treatment.

I've just gone to put his ointment on and I can feel it coming loose! I had a look and a massive chunk of his pad is actually coming away! A large part is still attached but I really don't like the look of it!

I haven't got any bandages or anything! I'm calling the vet first thing tomorrow morning, but what should I do for tonight? Should I put a sock on him or something like that? I'm worried about it getting infected with the heat and everything.

Thanks.

Put a sock on him, but first apply a bit of gauze or a dressing with some ointment on it. Secure it with some surgical tape—or even Sellotape if you haven't got anything else—and then pop the sock over the top.
