Hair regrowth on a scar

Hi there, I bought a puppy at a show who already had a scar, apparently from a bit of a scuffle with its littermates. The breeder told me that the hair would grow back, but after more than a month there's no change. I'd love some advice and tips on how to help the hair grow back, thanks very much!

Hi there, my pug had a hot spot. Now that it’s all healed up, what can I put on the skin to help the fur grow back? Thanks.

On the right, at the bottom of the photo, it looks like there's another indented area, a smaller one, which is covered in fur...

Yes, I was just about to ask the same thing... are there any others on their body? Because if so, it's more likely to be an illness... a parasite or some kind of skin condition...

What breed is he? And can we see a photo of that cute little face? ^^

    Hi there,

You’re right, there is a chance the fur might never grow back. It all depends on whether the hair follicles were pulled out as well; since that’s where the fur grows from, if they’ve been damaged or removed, it unfortunately won’t grow back...

On another note, given where the puppy came from, it’s definitely worth checking that he doesn’t have any underlying health issues and that his vaccinations are all up to date.

    Best regards,

    Alexia

It’s not down to the dog, but rather the nature of the initial injury. If the hair follicle is damaged or destroyed, that spot will stay bald for life. And yes, a trip to the vet is a must, especially given where this poor puppy came from :(
    Why "this poor puppy"?
Hi Orcka, This isn't aimed at you personally, but puppy shows don't have a very good reputation among the members here, much like buying from pet shops. Having been to one with the kids, I know how tempting it is to fall for all those cute little faces, but sometimes these puppies are weaned too early or come from puppy farms. When I saw the prices they were charging at that show, I realised just how lucrative this business can be, and it’s completely unfair to responsible breeders who put the work into proper selection and socialisation. Since that didn’t sit right with me, we chose to adopt instead.

Yes, there’s definitely a second, smaller one

From the photo, it looks like a fairly deep wound. Be Cool is right about the hair follicle...

I’ve already been to the vet, and they’ve asked me to keep an eye on things to see if there’s any change.
