Broken tip of a canine tooth, is it possible?

While giving my Gatsby a cuddle this morning, I noticed that one of his upper canines was shorter than the other, and since they overhang his bottom lip a bit, it’s quite obvious. I hadn't spotted this before, even though I'm constantly showering his nose and lips with kisses, so is it possible he chipped the tip of that tooth while mucking about? Or is it possible for one canine to grow more than the other? There are no visible signs of a break on the tooth in question; it’s still nice and sharp, just shorter than the other one. As a reminder, my big boy isn't even 2 yet, so he’s still supposed to be filling out/growing a bit, right?

I couldn't get a photo of the teeth themselves, but here’s a few shots of him wrestling with baby Harley—it gets a bit rough sometimes! :)

It can happen; I've seen it with one of my dogs before. He was mucking about and ended up snapping a bit off his canine. If that's what's happened, you just need to keep an eye on the tooth to make sure it doesn't get infected or develop a cavity. If there are no signs of a break, it could also be a natural quirk – a shorter canine is rare, but not impossible. You could mention it to the vet at your next check-up, but it probably isn't anything too serious. Just make sure to keep a close watch for any infection if it is a break.
