Broken tip of a canine tooth, is it possible?

While giving my Gatsby a cuddle this morning, I noticed that one of his upper canines was shorter than the other, and since they overhang his bottom lip a bit, it’s quite obvious. I hadn't spotted this before, even though I'm constantly showering his nose and lips with kisses, so is it possible he chipped the tip of that tooth while mucking about? Or is it possible for one canine to grow more than the other? There are no visible signs of a break on the tooth in question; it’s still nice and sharp, just shorter than the other one. As a reminder, my big boy isn't even 2 yet, so he’s still supposed to be filling out/growing a bit, right?

I couldn't get a photo of the teeth themselves, but here’s a few shots of him wrestling with baby Harley—it gets a bit rough sometimes! :)

Hi everyone, my 6-month-old kitten has broken both his fangs—one halfway and the other completely. It’s just a hollow gap now, there’s nothing left. Please reassure me, will they grow back? Were they just his milk teeth? I’m seeing the vet on Wednesday but I’m really worried until then. There’s still some blood in the socket where the fang was. The first one broke while we were playing and I don’t know how the second one happened, but it’s clearly bothering him when he eats as his dry food gets stuck in the gap. He must be in pain.

Antigone broke a canine about 2 or 3 years ago now, and it hasn’t stopped her from eating at all—quite the opposite lol. I do wonder how on earth she managed to do it, though! ^^

Hi everyone, It turns out it probably is a broken canine after all. Looking closely, as I just did during a cuddle, the shorter tooth is also less pointy than the other one, so I reckon he must have broken it a while ago without me even realising. Mind you, it doesn't seem to be bothering him! But when I see the way they slam into the walls or door frames during their chase games, it doesn't surprise me one bit; I’d even say it could’ve been much worse!

    Haha, Ganache!

So, it looks like quite a few of them don't have teeth that are all the same ;)

Just like us, Mure – canines (also called fangs), incisors (so cute on them, they're absolutely tiny!) and molars.

Eclair’s got a broken tip on his canine as well :( The vet’s seen him and says it’s nothing serious.

Don’t worry Euqi! I went to the vet once, absolutely worried sick, because Ganache has a bit of a wonky tooth... he was slightly taking the mick out of me lollllll

Well, there you go – that doesn't surprise me one bit with my little lad, quirky right down to his fangs! He’s already got those upper vampire fangs that stick out from his lip, he’s a right fussy eater when it comes to what’s in his bowl, and now he’s growing all out of proportion! Thank goodness he’s been neutered, ahem... Lol

Usually a broken canine doesn’t stay sharp, there's normally a sign that it’s snapped. I think your little pup just wants to be original :p lol They’re so funny.

Thanks Mysteres, I’ll keep an eye on him. He’s not seeing the vet straight away—not until early July for his booster jabs and a check-up—so I’ll mention it then. One canine shorter than the other... it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if my little man had some sort of rare quirk! :)
