I think my cat Gino swallowed two foam earplugs this morning, can anyone reassure me?

Hello,

I think my Gino managed to swallow two foam earplugs this morning. He still seems his usual self and I don't think there's a need to panic, but could anyone put my mind at rest?

Thanks.

Your cat might have just been playing with the foam earplugs and they’ve fallen and ended up under a piece of furniture in a corner where you can't see them. I’d be surprised if a cat actually ate that sort of thing on purpose; they’d usually just shred them and you’d find the bits. My cat plays with them and eats them. I keep them out of reach now as I’m worried she’ll get ill. Even so, she usually brings them back up within 24 hours and they haven't even swollen up. I don't know why earplugs are so tempting for them, but cats do seem to eat them quite often...

Is anyone about? My 9lb cat threw up 3 earplugs this morning!!! She’s doing fine... but I was just wondering how she managed it, she’s got such a tiny little head.

    Phew!!!

More of a scare than anything else.

By the very next morning, I found them... in the litter tray. It just goes to show he digests things really quickly! (lol)

A few more details in case this happens to any of you: they don't swell up. They were still whole.

They aren't actually that big, mind you Gino weighs about 12 lbs.

Anyway, thank you all for your helpful advice and encouragement.

Definitely something to keep an eye on; earplugs are actually quite big and they can act like a sponge in the stomach, keep us updated!!!!!

Esterel, clearly you haven't read my comment because I never for a second thought it wasn't serious. That’s why I said if there was even the slightest change in behaviour, you should rush straight to the vet.
