GROWLING CAT

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently noticed that my cat has started growling whenever she hears the doorbell. I’m quite surprised because I know dogs growl, but I didn’t think cats could too.

For instance, if we’re sitting on the sofa or she’s fast asleep in her bed and the postie rings, she gets up straight away and starts growling.

I know I’ve always wanted a dog and I’ve basically raised my cat to behave like one, but I didn’t think she'd go as far as growling!

I thought I’d seen everything after 8 years, but these fur babies always find a way to surprise us :)

Does anyone else have a cat like this? If there’s a vet reading this who could explain it, I’d love to hear from you.

Hi, my girl growls from time to time as well. Usually, she’s in the hall and I reckon she’s heard a noise or sensed someone outside. My previous cat, who wasn’t sociable with strangers at all, did it regularly whenever someone came in. I don’t think it’s unusual behaviour; for me, it’s just a sign of either aggression or fear.
