Hi there,
If I've understood correctly, your girl is swatting at the kittens staying at your parents' place. She’s simply trying to teach them some manners and set some boundaries. You really shouldn't intervene in this situation. It's through these 'swats' that kittens and young cats learn bite and scratch inhibition.
Also, depending on the age of the kittens, their hormones might already be kicking in and they could be able to breed. If your cat hasn't been spayed yet, there's a real risk of pregnancy. If she has already been 'done', those swats will help dampen the youngsters' enthusiasm.
In any case, whether you've got several cats living together or just one, neutering is very highly recommended. We're just waiting for it to become a legal requirement here, as is already the case in some other countries.
Hi,
It sounds like it might just be play behaviour. If your cat is batting with their paws without their claws out and isn't showing an aggressive posture (fur standing on end, etc.), it's nothing to worry about.
You should still keep an eye on things to make sure they aren't hurting the other cat, though.
Hope that helps.
Lucas.
