Why does my cat always eat straight after a fuss?

Hi everyone, I've had my cat for two and a half years now; I got him from a local rescue centre.

Ever since he was a kitten, he's meowed at me and insisted on leading me into the kitchen (where his food bowl is). He usually eats whenever he feels like it, but sometimes he demands cuddles several times throughout the day. Once he's had enough of a fuss, he’ll head over to his bowl for a snack. He’s done this to me three times tonight! I’d love to know why he goes to eat just after getting his fill of attention. He doesn’t have any particular psychological issues and isn't especially timid or skittish.

I hope someone can shed some light on this! Cheers and have a lovely evening :)

She also licks their bums, but you don't have to do that either 😂

Well, there we have it! Exactly what I was trying to avoid – vulgarity! (lol)

Hi, It’s probably just a throwback to when the cat was a kitten. The warm contact of the mum licking them, followed by a big feed. Usually, after nursing, the mum licks the kitten's tummy to help their digestion, but we don't have to do that bit ourselves, do we...

    Hi everyone

My Maine Coon comes to find me all day long, chirruping away so I’ll give him a fuss while he’s eating his dry food; it’s the only time he’ll actually let me stroke him.

Hi there, Cuddles give cats a real feel-good boost, and they like to keep that feeling going with another enjoyable activity, like having some food. My cat always has a proper wash after she’s been stroked.
