Yeah, I had a feeling it wasn't an abscess...

Right, well, it’s true I’ve seen an abscess before and it doesn’t really look like that... I like to illustrate my ramblings, so here’s a photo of an abscess... XD

Janette, have you ever actually seen an abscess? 😁 I think you’re letting your imagination run away with you a bit there, though with a bit of creative thinking, you could almost mistake it for a volcano about to erupt. I’m sticking with it being a nipple; if he’s got four on each side of his belly, then they’re definitely nipples. Male cats are just like men – they have them too. That being said, if it really is just a "little bump", then ask your vet. Only they’ll be able to tell you for sure what it is.

It almost looks like an abscess – could the lump be pus draining? I think I’m probably just imagining things ;D

A nipple is bigger too, as far as I'm aware.

I expect the photo quality is a bit poor...

This is Chatouille’s nipple. The thing on the cat is likely something other than a nipple, as a nipple is slightly elongated and completely white, whereas the cat’s lump is round with a red ring around it...

Sorry, but I think even if it's on the tummy, it doesn't really look much like a nipple... a tick might be worth checking for instead...

Or it could even be something else – if you're in any doubt, you can always see a vet to be sure of what it is.

OTHERWISE IT COULD BE A TICK (you might see legs perhaps), which needs to be removed with a tick tool

If it’s on the tummy and you find several of them, then they’re just nipples.

    Hi there,

Only a vet will be able to give you a proper diagnosis for that lump.

Skin lumps can be caused by many different things (lipomas, cysts, inflamed spots...). If your cat doesn't seem particularly bothered by it and their behaviour is normal, it’s not an emergency, but a vet will be able to tell you exactly what it is.

    I hope this helps,

    Jeanne
