Hi everyone, I've just found a white oval-shaped lump, about 8mm long, at the base of my kitten's tail. I've attached a photo. I'm wondering what it could be. I've only had him since Tuesday and I'm already planning to take him to the vet for his jabs next week. Thanks for your help.

    Hi there

Those "black threads" are the legs, so they definitely are ticks.

Follow the advice shared in this thread. But given the number and where they're located, you'll likely need some help to remove them all—from the vet if necessary—and certainly without delay.

    Speak soon

Hi, my cat has several white lumps as well. I’m not sure if they’re ticks, but he has one on his ear tucked between the folds of skin, and when I touch nearby to get a better look, I can see black threads moving. Please help me! (PS: sorry for the bad spelling)

Hi there. It was definitely a tick. It was removed alive last night. I’m heading to the vet’s later today. Thanks for your reply.

That looks exactly like a tick to me. You can't really wait until your vet appointment to remove it (unless it’s tomorrow). You can pick up a tick tool at any chemist; given the size, you’ll need to use the larger one (they usually come in packs of two different sizes). To remove it, slide the tool under the body and twist anticlockwise. Check that the head is definitely out, then disinfect the area (with an antiseptic spray, for example).
