White hairs on a black kitten

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently adopted a two-and-a-half-month-old kitten. He’s completely black but has some white hairs scattered throughout his coat. At first, he didn’t have any at all, but as the days go by, more and more are appearing. Some little tufts have even popped up inside his ears. I haven’t managed to see a vet yet to ask about it, so I’m posting here. I was wondering if it could be due to a deficiency in his diet, or perhaps some kind of stress... Or is this just normal for black kittens? Will these scattered white hairs keep increasing and eventually form patches?

The hairs are quite hard to spot on camera, but I’ve attached a few photos anyway ^^

It definitely happens with moggies... Not only is it not a sign of ill health, but I actually think it gives them a little something extra, a touch of charm 😌 My two babies are both solid-coloured (one blue and one black, both domestic shorthairs) and they’ve each got a tiny little patch of white fur; it's so sweet!

There's no need to worry at all, this is quite common and won't affect their health. There’s even a legend that these cats are lucky charms because they’ve been touched by the hand of God. It likely dates back to the Middle Ages when black cats were sacrificed; if they had any white in their fur, they were spared.
