Unusual hair loss at the base of my cat's ears

Hi everyone,

When I got home from work, I noticed my cat had a bald patch at the base of one of her ears. It was also a bit red, so I thought she'd just hurt herself while playing. However, it's been 3 or 4 days now and I've got the feeling the area is getting bigger. A small flesh-coloured scab seems to have formed. She recently had a cat flu (rhinotracheitis) jab. Could this be a side effect of the vaccine? I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Thanks everyone!

I also think it’s a skin issue. I’ve been to see the vet and they’ve taken a culture, so I should have some answers soon! In the meantime, I’m trying out some apple cider vinegar diluted in water just in case it’s ringworm.

    Hi there,

I’d also suggest seeing a vet. There are so many different feline skin conditions, and unfortunately, they don’t usually clear up on their own. I reckon if it were just an injury, the area would be getting smaller rather than spreading. But only a vet will be able to give you a definitive diagnosis.

Hi, it could be ringworm... it's best to take him to the vet.
