Hi everyone!

I have a question — I've just noticed a small pink/white lump on my cat's side and I'm not sure what it is. I can't find any info on it, so if anyone could shed some light on whether it's benign/normal or not, it would really help put my mind at ease about what to do, please.

It’s probably just a little wart; it's quite common as cats start getting older. You shouldn't pick at it, just keep an eye on it. If it gets any bigger, though, it’s best to see a vet.

No, not at all 😅 it’s on her leg, well, what would be the equivalent of a human shoulder I suppose—around the neck/leg area. It’s a bit tricky to get a photo of her because she’s wriggling all over the place!

A hairy nipple then? 😏 Isn't it meant to be less furry around the nipples? Mind you, I had no idea cats could get warts.

    Hi there,

What exactly do you mean by 'on the side'? Because to me, that looks for all the world like a nipple. Males have them too. Don't go pulling on it. Leave them be!

Alright, thanks so much! I'll keep an eye on it while waiting to see the vet.

    Hi there,

Lumps under a cat’s skin can have several causes: an abscess, a tumour (often benign, known as a lipoma), a cyst, a reaction following an injection, or a wart.

In this case, you’ll need to see a vet so they can give you a definitive diagnosis regarding the cause of this mass.

In the meantime, it could potentially be a wart. These are what we call papillomas. Papillomas are tumours that are most often benign. Feline warts appear as small lumps that vary in size and shape.

Treatment may be an option (either medical or surgical).

    I hope this helps,

    Have a lovely day,

    Paul
