Evening all,

I’d like to get your thoughts on the photo I’m attaching below. While checking over my cat, I noticed he has a patch or a bit of a scab on one of his nipples. He’s a 3-year-old male, and he's up to date with his vaccinations and flea/worming treatments. He’s been licking that spot quite a lot.

Thanks for your help.

P.S. I’m going to have the vet take a look on Monday ;)

Bumping this thread as I'm having a similar issue. My little cat has a small black scab that's making the fur around her nipple stick together a bit. It doesn’t seem to be weeping; the nipple is a bit red but is a normal size. She was spayed at 7 or 8 months old (when she first arrived at the rescue centre) and she’s now two and a half years old. I can't manage to get the little scab off by cleaning it with water, so it's impossible to tell if it was just some muck or if the scab is actually reforming.

    Hi there,

It’s difficult to say exactly what it could be without seeing your cat in person, as there’s such a wide range of skin issues that can affect them.

First of all, it could just be a small wound that has become slightly infected and itchy. Beyond that, there are many possibilities: allergies, parasites (even if you’re regularly treating them, some resistance has started to show up with certain products), stress, or a bacterial infection...

You’re doing the right thing by taking him to the vet, as they’ll be able to give you a proper diagnosis and provide treatment if needed. If your cat doesn’t have any other sores, it sounds like you’ve spotted the problem early, which will make it much easier to clear up.

    Hope this helps!
