Hi everyone, I’m posting here because my 18-month-old neutered cat has gone missing. I last saw him on Friday evening and haven’t seen a sign of him since. This really isn’t like him at all because, even though he spends a lot of time outdoors, we usually see him several times throughout the day, and he’s always back in time for his meals. I’m so worried, as it’s been two days now since he was last seen. He’s never done anything like this before; we’ve been calling for him all over the place.
Do you think it’s possible for a neutered cat to just wander off like this?

Personally, I moved about a month ago. My old place had a terrace, but there wasn't really anywhere for my cat to go besides the neighbour's balcony.
Now I've just moved into a new flat, still with a terrace, but they're all open and since the move my neutered cat has been wandering off across all the floors. I've already had comments and even a few complaints from the other residents, and I'm at my wits' end. Right now, I'm just staying cooped up in my flat.
Hi everyone, it’s been a year now since I adopted a neutered and vaccinated cat from the RSPCA. He’s very affectionate and sweet. I have a terrace and I’ve put up some netting to stop him from going over to the neighbours' or escaping, but lately he’s doing everything he can to run away. I just don’t understand why?
Hi,
A cat usually has a good reason for running away. Perhaps it’s because of a change in their life? The cat might have just gone off to 'sulk' because of it.
Hi there,
Did your cat ever come back?
My neutered boy, who is nearly 3 years old, has been missing since last Friday night. We live in a flat, but for the last three years we’ve regularly visited my parents’ house, so he has his own routine and toys there...
I’ve brought over his favourite cushion and an item of my clothing so he can recognise our scent. I’ve notified the vet and the microchip database, put up posters, and all the neighbours have been informed. My parents are calling for him regularly and searching for him every day....
Thanks so much for your replies, I'd already posted an alert on the local pet search groups and I've just put an ad on a lost pet website too. I really hope I find him, I'm running out of ideas... I'm going to keep calling for him regularly.
Evening everyone,
Could you post his best photo here so we can see his sweet little face?
And also post it on the "WHAT IF WE MADE.... photo album" thread (General) and mention that he's gone missing.
Don’t hesitate to contact the local animal shelters and rescues in your area. Someone might have already handed them in, and people often don’t think to check there. If your pet isn't microchipped, they'll have no way of getting in touch with you.
Thanks so much for your replies. I’ve already posted an advert on a few lost pet registers and I’ve just put one up on a missing cat website as well. I really hope I find him, I’m running out of ideas… I’m going to keep calling for him regularly.
I’m so sorry. I’ve been through this many times myself and my heart goes out to you.
Try calling for them especially in the evening and at the crack of dawn. Walk around shaking their dry food, then stop, call their name, and listen (if they’re the type of cat to meow back).
I had a Siamese cat go missing shortly after I moved into a new house. There was some woodland on one side that belonged to me. I used to walk along the path, calling out, and then head back. On the third day, I did the same route and suddenly spotted her between the trees, looking like she was just waiting there calmly. Either she was on her way back from somewhere, or I’d walked past her time and time again without her letting me know she was there... She was absolutely fine, maybe a bit hungry, I can’t quite remember.
It sounds like you’ve done everything you can. There’s still the option of posting a photo on social media. Perhaps others will have some more ideas?
He might also have been taken in by someone if he got spooked, ran off, and lost his way.
Hi, yeah, I’ve looked everywhere for him nearby. I’m out in the countryside, so we’ve checked the fields and the woods. Yes, he eats dry food. We’ve also put flyers through letterboxes, asked the neighbours and checked all the local roads, but still nothing. We’re calling out for him several times a day.
