Hi everyone! This morning in the dark, my dad didn't see my cat and accidentally trod on him (because it was pitch black, he doesn't know which part of his body he stepped on). He let out a loud yowl and bolted. He came back home a bit later and seems to be walking and behaving normally, but I'm still really worried... What warning signs should I look out for? Is it necessary to take him to the vet to make sure he's alright?

I’ve also stepped on my little monster a couple of times. Once on a paw and once on his tail; both times he let out a really loud meow but he was absolutely fine, even though I’m not exactly small myself. You feel so guilty in the moment and you really worry, but most of the time they’re okay. As mentioned above, as long as you don’t see any symptoms (he’s eating, drinking, and isn’t limping) and he lets you stroke him as usual, you’ve got no reason to worry. :)

Phew, it’s a relief to see it happens to everyone! :D

As far as I can tell my cat seems to be doing alright, so thank goodness for that!

I have to admit it gave me a bit of a scare this morning—the yowl he let out made me think he’d broken something! :o

Hi there, I’ve been there too: half-asleep, walking down a pitch-black hallway with my black cat right in the middle of the way.

If your cat is happy to be handled, give them a stroke; if they’re in pain anywhere when you run your hand over them, they’ll definitely let you know. Otherwise, I’d say there’s not too much to worry about :) like Stellaieux said, these things happen.

Hi there, these things happen ;) If he’s acting normally, then don’t worry.
