My cat's nose is always dirty

Hi everyone,

I'm posting because my 8-month-old cat always seems to have a dirty nose. I've already mentioned it to the vet since he's had this issue ever since I got him, but they told me it was nothing to worry about.

I clean it for him using a dampened cotton bud so it doesn't irritate him, as the dirt is right on the edge of his nose. He sits quite nicely for it and seems happy once it's clean. I usually end up removing a sort of crusty bit, just some grime really...

The thing is, it comes back every single day... I was hoping some of you might have a solution or some advice?

Thanks everyone 🙂

Why all the fuss about cleaning a nose? Personally, my Persians always get loads of crusties in the corners of their nostrils; I just use my thumbnail to scrape them off. It doesn't bother them in the slightest and the only "kit" you need is your fingers! You have to wash your hands afterwards, mind you, but that’s all there is to it 😌.

Good idea, thank you for that.

You already posted that exact reply on at least one other thread yesterday, and yet nothing has changed. Instead, you’re continuing to bump old topics which are pushing more urgent problems off the forum's front page. People with similar issues are perfectly capable of using the search function themselves.

It would be best to start a new thread for your articles 🙂

Judging by the date of the thread, they must have sorted it by now :)

Hi, my 6-month-old kitten has that on their nose and eyes too. I bought some special cat saline solution from the chemist, it cost me about £5, and I clean it using that and a cotton bud.
