My cat has been missing for over a month

Hi everyone, it's been over a month since I lost my cat and I'm coming here to see if anyone has any new ideas on how to find her. We moved from a flat to a house four months ago. She started exploring the garden instead of just being on the balcony. In the very first few days, I lost her for a day. After calling her and putting her litter tray outside, she eventually came back. After that scare, she stayed close to the house and didn't wander far. But now, she's been gone for a month, she just disappeared overnight. I've tried everything: putting her litter tray and her bed outside, calling her every single night. I've walked for miles along the nearby roads and checked the fields and ditches, but nothing. I've spoken to the local council workers, but they haven't picked up any cats during that time. I've contacted the vet, the RSPCA, and the local shelters. I've also put up posters in shops around the area, but still nothing. No one has seen her; she just vanished. She disappeared just as my partner was one month pregnant—could it be related to that? I'm not sure, but she's always struggled with children. After a month of searching, I'm starting to lose hope... I know some cats can come home after a long time, but I'm finding it hard to believe. The most frustrating thing is not knowing if she’s still alive! Please feel free to share your stories or any advice on things I might have missed. Thank you in advance.

Excuse me, but I never mentioned a witch doctor! I was talking about psychics/mediums and a dowser...

Aziard "My partner added the people in question on TikTok because I don't have the app. From what I understand, I have to wait for her to accept the request before I can get in touch. I haven't had a reply yet." No! You don’t need to wait for them to accept any request... at least not for eve.elevation anyway... I’m not sure what you mean by 'invite', but you just need to follow her... Type her handle into the search bar and click 'Follow' on the red button... I don't know if that's what your partner did, but that's what you need to do... Then, go to one of her videos and explain your situation... You might have to make a small donation, mind you, if you want a quick reply... She mentions it in her bio right under her username... She also says it in a post she put up recently on TikTok... I reckon it’ll be the same for mathilde.medium – I think you’ll need to follow her too... Keep calling for your cat every evening, and every morning as well... even if you don't get a response... And do as I said... take her bowl or a little container with some dry food in it and shake it every time you call her, calling out really loudly... And make sure to listen out for any little noise you might hear!... ^ ^ ☝ And once again!... Don't lose hope!... ^ ^ ☝

Unfortunately, I’ve already done everything you’ve mentioned... aside from searching nearly 100 miles away from home lol. It’s tough. I’ve put up posters twice in the local shops as well as on various social media groups and websites.

Sadly, after nearly 2 months, I think I just have to keep calling out for her and wait for her to come home.

Hi, how wide a radius have you been searching in? When my cat went missing, I found him about 90 miles away from home – don’t ask me how he did it (I reckon he must have hopped into a car or a van and jumped out much further away). So, it’s definitely worth looking further afield (posters, Facebook group ads, local papers… in busy spots like the post office, banks, and supermarkets – and preferably in colour) and don't be afraid to keep at it. I think those scammers are a complete waste of time. I tried a few back then and they all told me she was close to home, near water, but I found her miles away with not a pond or stream in sight. As far as I'm concerned, those people can get stuffed.

Hi, as I was saying, I’ve already contacted the local rescue centres and the change of address has definitely been done. Even if the address hadn’t been updated, the phone number linked to the microchip hasn't changed since then anyway.

YES, but have you contacted the local rescues? It’s worth a shot, and if your cat is microchipped, it’s possible they’ve already taken him in. If you didn’t think to update your address on the microchip, it’s no wonder they haven’t been able to find you, so definitely try getting in touch with the shelters.

Yeah, might as well try everything. Like I said in my first post, I’ve done plenty of searching on foot in the surrounding area, including the other villages. Unfortunately, I just can't search everywhere, it's impossible. I’ll end up going to check my old place eventually, but I'm not convinced. If it had been just a few days after the move, I’d have gone straight there.

I’ve already done everything in terms of posters, neighbours... etc.

Good evening. Have you put up any posters or asked your neighbours yet? Have you called the local rescue centres to see if anyone has brought a cat in, or contacted any animal charities like the RSPCA? Maybe someone has handed your cat over to a shelter. Just trying to help, I really hope you find your cat soon.

So you’re prepared to consult a psychic but you won't even look a bit further afield? She might have moved on to the next village or wandered into another area... anyway, it’s not my cat, so do whatever you think is best 😃

No, I haven't gone back to her old home. Let me explain why. I used to live in a flat and she only knew the balcony, so she hadn't really marked her territory as she’d never been an outdoor cat. When I moved, I stayed with family for a month (in another flat) and she struggled to settle in – the change was quite hard on her... After that month, I moved into my house and everything was fine; she found her feet really quickly. She had her own routine, even after four months. She’d come home either in the evening or the morning and would sit on the windowsill when I opened the shutters. She felt at home within a few days. That’s why I don’t think she’s gone back to my old place, or even to where I stayed for that month. She’d got used to going out and always came back home regardless.

PS: My old place is a 45-minute drive away, but I know cats can sometimes wander quite far.
