My cat has been missing for 3 days?

Hi everyone

My 4-year-old girl went out on Friday 26/05, so three days ago now.

And since then... nothing.

I’ve been calling her, but no luck, and she never usually wanders very far. I’m so scared 🤧

Mind you, it’s not the first time she’s pulled this stunt. Once, she disappeared for a week and then just turned up like nothing had happened. She’s also gone missing for 3 days a few times before, so I don’t know if I should be worried or not.

She’s a very good hunter and is absolutely petrified of cars, so she’s usually very cautious.

Should I be worried? Where on earth could she be? (There are some woods near my house, maybe there?) How can I find her?

(I’m probably going to go and put up some posters)

How long can she go without food or water? (if she’s got herself locked in somewhere, for example)

Thanks for the help, I’m really worried

    Hi everyone

My cat ran away three days ago. I’ve been calling for him but there’s no sign of him.

    Hi everyone!

I’m so happy to share the news that my little girl Ippolythe has been found safe and sound. She was actually found just behind my house by a couple who weren't from the area (I can't thank them enough!).

She’d managed to get her paw stuck in her collar and was really distressed. So, they took her home to help her calm down, looked after her for a few days, and then dropped her off at a local rescue. I’ve picked her up now and she’s doing brilliantly, though she is a bit more clingy than usual 😁

So there we go, thank you all so much for your lovely messages—they really helped me keep my chin up 😳

And remember, if the same thing happens to you, don't give up. Your kitty will always find their way back home! 👋

Hello, it’s always a tricky, worrying and sad situation when a cat ‘does a disappearing act’. You mentioned that your cat went missing once for a week and then came back. I’d like to ask you a couple of questions.

_ First of all, what breed is your cat?

    _ Secondly, is she spayed?

These two questions are important because some breeds are much more of a homebody than others. Also, if a female cat hasn't been spayed, she’ll go into heat and will want to wander off to find a mate; a cat in heat will ‘yowl’ to let the local toms know she's looking for company. That said, if a cat is capable of going off for a week, she'll likely come back, settle for a bit, and then head out again—especially if she’s used to that routine. You should try looking for her in the spots she usually hangs out. Have a chat with your neighbours to see if they’ve spotted her. And if she’s microchipped or has a tattoo, don't hesitate to reach out to a local animal shelter or the RSPCA for help. Remember that cats are very resourceful; even as pets, they still know how to hunt for food and find somewhere to shelter. Don't worry, she’ll be back.

    Hi,

    Has she been spayed?

If you're talking to me, no, she's a kitten – she was due to be spayed in a week's time.

No, the question was for the original poster. You should never let a kitten that hasn't been spayed outdoors; she's probably wandered off because she's on heat and must have got lost...

No, my little girl is spayed.

Thanks everyone... she’s still not home, unfortunately.

So sorry, but don’t lose hope. Keep looking everywhere for her and I’m sure she’ll come back.

Yeah, I know I shouldn't let her out, but my cat manages to open the door by jumping on the handle, and then they started hissing at the cat.
