Hi everyone, I’m posting here because my two-and-a-half-year-old cat has become incredibly affectionate lately compared to how she used to be. In fact, she never really used to sit on me, but for the past week, she’s been constantly demanding cuddles and as soon as I sit down anywhere, she settles right on my lap. Just so you know, she has been spayed, so she’s definitely not in heat.

I also have a second female cat that I got at the same time as the first one; she’s also spayed but her behaviour hasn’t changed one bit.

I’ve read a lot about how some cats suddenly become clingy with their owners when they’re pregnant, but I’m a man, so I can definitely rule that one out! :)

    As long as her behaviour hasn't changed in any other way, there is no need to worry. Cats sometimes change their behaviour for no apparent reason.

    She’s doing fine and eating really well, and I dote on my girls, so I really don't think she’s poorly. No, nothing has changed in her environment lately. Yes, I have a partner, but we were already together when we adopted our girls (one each).     Hi there, Some cats just become cuddly overnight; it happened to me with a male cat who turned into a real lap-cat at two years old, and he’s stayed that way ever since. Cat behaviour can be quite a mystery sometimes. I don’t think there’s any cause for concern as long as she's in good health (some cats do get very clingy with their owners if they’re feeling poorly).
