Lump on cat's bottom lip

Hi everyone,

First things first, I’ll be calling the vet first thing tomorrow morning to try and get him an appointment.

I’ve just got back from a weekend away today and found my cat with a swollen bottom lip...

He’s still eating though, and is just as cuddly as usual..

Is there anything I can do while waiting to see the vet?

And any ideas what it could be?

I’m really worried 😖

My little boy is 5 and has never had anything like this before.

He gets recurring UTIs, but those have really settled down since we switched him to a special dry food.

Thanks

Hi, my cat had the exact same thing, we went straight to the vet – it’s a GRANULOMA... it’s not serious as such, but you still need to see the vet. He gave him a long-acting steroid jab and today it’s pretty much cleared up. It’s caused by either stress or an allergy, but either way, it can be painful for them, can’t it? So you really should get to the vet.

    Hi,

Could you let me know what your vet said? My cat’s been dealing with the same thing for the last 3-4 days.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do until you can see your vet.

If he's struggling to eat his dry food, you could try moistening it or giving him some wet food instead.

As long as he isn't lethargic and is still eating, it isn't a life-threatening emergency. Keep a close eye on him, and if his condition worsens, don't hesitate to contact an out-of-hours vet before tomorrow.

    Hope this helps,

    Mazarine
