Same here, no worries. It's exposure to air that spoils a product; if you just remove a small bit of the ointment, the rest will still be fine.

Hi there, How long has the tube been open for and what’s the expiry date on it? Both bits of info are important. If the expiry date is still a long way off, you can just squeeze out a good amount of the ointment (as there’s a risk of it oxidising since it’s right by the opening) and clean the nozzle. The ointment behind it shouldn’t have oxidised. If it’s past its expiry date, as far as I’m aware, there’s no risk to the cat; the product will likely have just stopped being effective.
