Hi everyone,

This morning I found an open packet of salami sticks (like Peperamis) and there was nothing left inside.

I'm certain Chipie ate them (about 4 or 5 sticks)...

Is this serious? If so, what should I do?

Thanks

Hi, Chipie is doing really well, it’s lovely of you to check in on her :) The salami didn't seem to bother her at all and she’s still doing her usual acrobatics.

Ah right, well I don't think you need to worry, it's only meat. He might have a bit of a runny tummy but no other issues. You can always check with your vet just in case, but I reckon he'll be fine :)

So no metal clip then?! I think you can just wait it out; after all, it's only meat. If she ate it last night or during the night, she'll normally poo it out today. But don't worry, it's just meat—it can't do her any harm as long as there wasn't a bit of metal in there. My Maïa once ate the metal clip and the string because there was a bit of sausage left on it, but she ended up throwing it up, so everything was fine.

    Ok, thanks a lot!!

No, there wasn't any metal bit or string, here's a photo (from the internet):

The sticks were about 8cm long and weren't very thick, but they didn't have any bits of wire or metal in them. OK, thanks. I'm going to pick up her wormer this afternoon, so I'll ask the vet if it's serious while I'm there. How long will it take for her to pass the sticks in her poo? And thanks for your reply, it's already put my mind at ease a bit.

Hi there, don't panic, are they those large sticks?! She’ll probably be sick as she must have eaten the metal bits... In any case, keep an eye on her poo and check if she vomits, but it might be better to take her to the vet.
