Cat with a swollen cheek

Evening everyone. Yesterday I noticed my cat had a slight injury just to the left of his left eye. I thought it was just a scratch from a fight, but when I got home tonight his left cheek was swollen. I mentioned it to my parents but they didn't notice anything. A few hours later his cheek had swollen up even more. He doesn't seem to be in pain when I touch it, and I've had a quick look at his teeth but couldn't see anything unusual. Any ideas what this might be? Thanks in advance.

The left side of the photo, so his right side.

It doesn't really matter, you can clearly see there’s a problem.

Mind you, that sort of mix-up could catch you out in daily life – I hope you're not planning a career as a surgeon! ;-)

Evening, thanks for your reply. It’s actually the left side that’s swollen, where the eye is more closed. Maybe the photo looks the wrong way round to you.

Evening, That kind of swelling is a sign of inflammation or an infection; only a vet will be able to tell you for sure. It might go down quickly, but if there’s no improvement by tomorrow or if it gets even more swollen, it’s best to get it checked out. NB: Unless the photo is upside down, it’s the right side that has the issue, right? ;-)
