Evening everyone,
My 6-and-a-half-year-old cat passed away suddenly yesterday. She seemed perfectly fine, and I didn't notice any symptoms (she was purring and playing as usual). When I went into my bedroom, I found her lying on my bed with her eyes open. There was no sign of anything being wrong in the flat; she had eaten and used her litter tray as normal.
I had noticed over the last few months that she was sneezing now and then, and she was being sick about once every fortnight. For a few years, she had sometimes been breathing a bit heavily when she was playing. I took her to the vet about a month and a half ago for her booster jab and to mention all of this. She examined her and didn't find anything, but told me to change her brand of dry food, which I did.
Has anyone else been through something similar? Do you think such a sudden passing could be due to a heart condition?
Thank you for your replies, I'm absolutely devastated...
