Hi everyone,

My cat, Chipie, is 4 years old. Whenever I buy mushrooms and leave them out of the fridge or cupboard, and I'm not in the kitchen, she rips open the cling film on the punnet and eats the mushrooms. Are they safe? Should I do something about it?

Do I need to do anything?

Don't leave mushrooms within reach of your cat's claws and mouth, for a start! :)

Evening, what kind of mushrooms are they? I don't think they're particularly good for her, you should keep them out of her reach. They can cause allergies or be toxic for them (just as they can be for us, actually).
They’re just button mushrooms like the ones you get in Tesco or Sainsbury’s...

They aren’t toxic at any rate, but it’s not really the right kind of food for her little liver. It would be better to stop the little rascal from getting hold of them in the future! 😌
