My cat is bringing up its dry food

Hi everyone,

It’s happening more and more often that my cat is bringing up a bit of her dry food... we sometimes find it unchewed and undigested, just in small amounts. Apart from that, she seems perfectly fine—she goes out, purrs and plays.

Does anyone have an idea what might be happening?

Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, my cat had an abscess at the base of his ear which was treated by the vet. He’s been prescribed Clindamycin (Climaseptine), but it’s been a real struggle to get him to take it... I’ve also been putting a drop of neat Betadine on the wound to help it heal. I’m trying to work out why he’s regurgitating his food. He seems fine in himself, but he’s just licking his wet food and won’t eat any of the solids. We switched him over to Royal Canin Renal dry food about a month ago; he took to the change well and everything was going fine until now. What do you think? Thanks for any advice and have a lovely day.

    Hi there,

If your pet is spitting out their dry food, it could be a sign of dental or oral pain, especially if it only happens with solid food, or perhaps a swallowing issue. It’s hard to say for certain without seeing your pet in person, so please don't hesitate to book an appointment with your vet, especially if your cat is losing weight or seems a bit under the weather!

Your vet will be in a better position to advise you once they’ve examined your cat and can provide advice tailored to your pet's needs.

    Hi there,

How old is your cat? He could be right in the middle of the transition from milk teeth to his adult ones. If he’s already got his adult teeth, you should have his mouth checked over by a vet. In any case, a good daily portion of wet food is highly recommended.
