My cat is biting his claws

Hello

For a little while now (about a month), I've noticed that when my cat is grooming himself, he's been "gnawing away" at his paws for quite a while.

Looking closer, the state of his claws isn't great (splitting, chewed right down...)

I'm quite surprised as he's never done it before and I trim them from time to time.

Could this be a behavioural issue?

PS: (I've also noticed he seems much more bored lately, could it be linked...?)

Thanks in advance for your replies & have a lovely day!

I honestly haven't a clue, that's the first I've heard of it! But I suppose it could be down to boredom... Have there been any changes in the house lately?
