Hi everyone! I’ve just realised, while coming across an old receipt, that I completely forgot to give my kitten her worming tablets! I only gave her the first dose during our first visit to the vet. She’s an indoor kitten and I’ve had her since she was 3 months old.

Is this serious? And what should I do now? Please help!

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Thanks for your replies, that’s really put my mind at ease!

I’ve got an appointment with my vet on Friday, so I’ll ask them for some info on which tablets to use.

    Thanks again 🙏

    Hi there,

No need to panic, just give them the overdue wormer as soon as you can. As mentioned above, indoor cats are less likely to pick up worms, but it’s still a good idea to treat them as a preventative measure. I have three adult indoor cats and I give them Milbemax twice a year. For kittens, it’s more frequent as they’re much more susceptible to worms.

    Hi there,

If your cat doesn't leave the flat, there’s no real reason to worry as they are much less likely to come into contact with parasites than an outdoor pet. You can give them a tablet now, but please make sure not to give a higher dose thinking it will make up for it, as an overdose can lead to side effects.

If you want to treat them regularly, worming tablets are generally given every six months, but it’s best to double-check with your vet or read the instructions on the packet.

    Have a lovely day,
